Wounded Columbus police K9 Havoc returns home after hospital discharge

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Columbus Police Department K9 Havoc has returned home after being shot in the line of duty earlier this week while helping officers apprehend a homicide suspect.

The brave canine was officially discharged Saturday morning from the Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital at Auburn University, marking a major milestone in his recovery.

To honor his bravery and ensure a safe journey back, multiple local law enforcement agencies rallied together. Police departments from Auburn and Opelika, along with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, assisted the Columbus Police Department’s motor squad with a formal escort as Havoc left the hospital.

Officials said K9 Havoc is expected to make a full recovery in about three months.
