FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A retired Fargo Police Department K-9 who spent years finding drugs and helping take suspects off the streets is now recovering from surgery, thanks to community support that covered his medical bills.
K-9 Blue underwent surgery last Thursday morning in Oakdale, Minnesota, for a bilateral hernia. His handler, Sgt. Sam Bollman, said Blue is recovering well at home.
Blue retired from the Fargo Police Department in December 2025 after a career that saw him deployed more than 1,000 times.
In retirement, Blue’s hernia had significantly affected his daily life, making him less active and causing difficulty going to the bathroom, Bollman previously said.
