Midland County welcomes new bomb detection K-9

MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – Midland County has welcomed a new bomb detection K-9, adding an enhanced layer of safety for first responders and the public across West Texas.

Artu, a 1½-year-old Belgian Malinois-German shepherd mix, recently arrived in Midland after completing specialized training near San Antonio.

Originally from the Netherlands, Artu responds to commands in Dutch and is trained in tracking and detecting explosive materials, including C4, TNT and other explosive compounds.
