Ian Donovan
Ian Donovan is a performance K9 nutrition specialist who retired from the U.S. Army’s 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) after a career as an operator and Multi-Purpose Canine Handler. He gained his operational experience while conducting combat missions through multiple areas of operation in middle eastern countries during the Global War on Terror (GWOT). This environment forced an understanding of the important role that Genetics, Training, and Nutrition played in the creation of exceptional teammates, both two and four legged. The ability to strengthen all three of these areas in his Canine partner led to maximum operational success in extremely harsh and non-permissive environments.
Class: Performance K9 Nutrition
A true Performance K9 consists of 3 things. Genetics, Training, and Nutrition. We often make the mistake of focusing heavily on the desired genetics and molding them with high caliber training only to ignore the third leg of the stool, nutrition. Failing to properly fuel these K9 Olympiads with the proper diet centered around the performance of the animal is a mistake that all too often leads to unnecessary failures. When all three legs of the stool are properly structured, the animal operates in its intended capacity. This class is FOR HANDLERS, BY HANDLERS, and will teach you how to understand an ingredient list and nutrition label for fueling performance K9’s so that you can make educated and informed decisions that will shape the success of your team. We will break down the science behind performance based K9 nutrition in an easy to understand format important for all Handlers to be able to action as true subject matter experts.
