Chris Ashton

Chris Ashton is a professional dog trainer with over 15 years of experience specializing in aggression cases, fear-based behavior, and real-world obedience. His work focuses heavily on K9 CPR & FirstAid and defensive dog handling and practical application in high-pressure environments. Chris is the owner of Enlighten Dogs Training Center in Southern California, where he leads a team providing advanced training, boarding, and behavioral rehabilitation. He has worked with agencies and organizations including the Redlands Police Department, California Department of correctional officers, VLK West Police Dog Training Facility, and Work Dogs International, serving as a K-9 explosive handler and trainer. As a certified K-9 First Aid Instructor and instructor at VLK West, Chris has spent over a decade training law enforcement and working K-9 handlers across the country in canine CPR, first aid, and field-ready emergency care. His approach is built on real-world experience, delivering practical, effective training for working dogs and their handlers.


Class: K-9 CPR Care and Field Stabilization

This course is designed for working K-9 handlers, covering critical lifesaving skills including CPR, bleeding control, shock management, seizure response and treatment of gunshot and stabbing wounds. Heat stroke, sign symptoms, and how to deal with it in an emergency. Handlers will learn to assess vital signs, perform rapid snout-to-tail evaluations for injuries, poisoning and environmental injuries such as snakebites, insect stings and much more! This is a hands-on class. Participants will practice with stuffed demo dogs and will earn a certificate in this class. Discussion will also include administering NarCan to dogs in emergency situations.
