WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Protecting people and property is a constant mission at both Fort Sill and Sheppard Air Force Base.
On Thursday, February 26, military working dog teams from both installations came together at Sheppard to exchange training techniques and sharpen their detection skills.
The collaboration allows airmen and soldiers to build consistency across services while reinforcing the high standards required for force protection operations.
“With the broad knowledge, throughout k9, it’s good to get different eyes on different dogs,” said SAFB Tech Sergeant Deandre Turner. “Because what one dog may do and what one dog may show, different methods and different ways to kind of problem solving, figure out ways to help the dogs.”
The collaborative meeting was not the first. Turner and Fort Sill Kennel Master Nicholas Walsh say they get to train canines together when schedules allow. Walsh says his team looks forward to training at Fort Sill’s facility soon.
