A pack of canines learned search and rescue skills on mountains east of Osoyoos over the weekend.
Oliver/Osoyoos Search and Rescue hosted the British Columbia Search Dog Association Spring K9 Camp on Anarchist and Sidley mountains.
“Search dog handlers from teams across the province came together —building skills and staying ready for when it matters most,” OOSAR said on social media Sunday.
“Shout out to the local land owners for generously allowing the use of their fields for training. Thanks to all the instructors, K9 teams, and volunteers who made it a great weekend!”
The dogs learned to hunt down scents and locate missing people, covering a wide area of space quickly. Areas of specialization include wilderness search, tracking, and avalanche rescue.
