Arizona Sheriff’s K-9 Seizes 17 Pounds of Suspected Fentanyl During Traffic Stop

The seizure occurred during a traffic stop on Interstate 17 near Kelly Canyon on January 9, 2026.

A K-9 unit helped identify the presence of narcotics, leading to a vehicle search and discovery of 17.58 pounds of fentanyl.

The driver, Angel Salgado-Chavez, was charged with transportation of narcotic drugs for sale and booked into custody.
