‘These dogs are absolutely force multipliers’: Naples police reflect on growth of 2 K9s

A wet nose, with a cuddle and a gulping lick, can soothe souls, while another nose can sniff out explosives designed to kill: Naples police has room for both K9s now that the agency has rejoined two nonprofits.
The police department joins a growing trend nationally as the dogs diversify from traditional search efforts, drug and ammunition sniffing and beyond, with agencies across Collier County now tallying 15 dogs between them — at least two of them specifically for “comfort care.”
