Suspected Felon caught by K-9 after police chase (Video included)

WEST VALLEY, Utah (ABC4 News) A man was caught by a police K-9 after a high speed chase. UDOT cameras captured the man’s attempt to flee on foot and his arrest.

Police say Sione Taufa was wanted for two second degree felonies, one for robbery and the other for burglary. He was also wanted as a suspect in other open cases. Police initially approached Taufa at about 12:45 a.m. but they say he jumped into a nearby car and tried to flee.

Police chased the car onto the 201 and I-80 freeways and eventually stopped the car using spikes at the intersection of Redwood Road and 3100 South. As shown in the UDOT video, Taufa attempted to run away on foot but a police K-9 stopped him and he was arrested.

Police say Taufa was taken to the hospital for a dog bite but is now in jail.

There were two women in the car with Taufa. They were held and questioned by police but it is unclear if they were helping him willingly or they were coerced.

Police say this arrest was a success because no officers or civilians were injured.
