Police officers turn closed bank into training ground for K-9 unit

The former Bell Bank at 409 Sheyenne St. looks like an abandoned warehouse from the outside, but inside, West Fargo K-9 officers suited up Wednesday, Feb. 3, to test and train their police pooches.

“No dog has been in this building, so it’s an exposure to the building, and it’s very valuable in that sense,” said West Fargo K-9 Officer Sgt. Pete Nielsen.

K-9 Tosti was the first of three dogs through the doors, followed by K-9 Macho and K-9 Brewtus, as fellow K-9 Officer Brock Ackerman played the role of bad guy, which Nielsen said could range from a bank robber to a drug dealer. Read More
