Systematic Search for Detection Dogs

Systematic Search for Detection Dogs

K9Sensus Foundation; Lucas, Iowa
Instructor: Robin Greubel

During the course we focus on teaching dogs to ‘engage the nose, not the feet’. We will start with exercises to not only build the appropriate muscles in the dogs, but to give handler/trainers a progression plan they can follow when they leave. We progress from brick walls, to line ups, to vehicles, and building searches. Also included will be discipline specific exersices to assist in skill development for buried/cladestine graves and tracking/trailing dogs.

Detection teams in the following disciplines will find this seminar extremely useful: human remains, narcotics, explosives, arson, nosework, tracking/trailing, and article search.

Registration limited to 8 working spots and 3 audits.

COST: $600 for a working spot (1 dog/handler); $350 for an audit. This includes board at the Handler’s Quarters, field lunches, dinner on Friday/Saturday and a t-shirt.

Must have current core shot records in line with AHAA
