Cloned Korean K-9 Dogs Join Russian Prison Guard Duty

Two Belgian Shepherds, cloned by the laboratories of the South Korean company Sooam Biotech Research Foundation in 2015, will accompany winter police working in the extreme cold of Yakutia, Russia.
The Belgian Malinios were given to the Yakutia authorities, where they will accompany prison guards overseeing dangerous criminals.
According to a police representative involved in training, the animals aren’t much different from other common dogs.
“I thought they would be different, but I do not see anything different in them compared to non-cloned animals,” the rep said.
To withstand the low temperatures, the canine companions will wear socks on all four of their legs.
“These dogs are obedient, have a very developed sense of smell, are very sociable and behave very well,” the official added.
