UW-Oshkosh welcomes K-9 officer to police department team

There’s a new big dog on campus.

K9 officer Skylar was sworn in as a member of the UW-Oshkosh Police Department team Monday.

Skylar, a fully certified and trained detection, tracking and search and rescue dog, is the first K9 officer to join the department.

The school says the two-year-old lab will take its emergency management efforts to the next level during events such as athletic games and fine and performing arts.

Skylar’s handler, university police officer Ben Kohlman says it took about two years to get the department’s K9 program started. Read More
