Local police obtain new K9 Unit thanks to community support

SOUTHWEST CITY, Mo. – The Southwest City Police Department recently beefed up its roster with the addition of a K9 Unit. Officials say the department’s ability to purchase a K9 and pay for handler training is thanks to private donations from the community. The SCPD thanks businesses and citizens for their donations, naming Simmons Food as its biggest supporter. The total amount raised was $21,100.
